A JDC ( American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee) már 1938-tól kezdődően komoly pénzügyi kerettel támogatta a magyarországi közösséget. A JDC „újkori” története 1991-ben indult újra Magyarországon, 38 év illegalitás után, ekkor hozta létre a nemzetközi szervezet a ma is működő MAZS Alapítványt. Elsőként az idős túlélők megsegítésére alakult meg a Holokauszt Túlélők Programja. Kezdetben a legfontosabb feladat a segélyek folyósítása volt, de fokozatosan előtérbe került a rászorulóknak nyújtott szolgáltatáscsomagok kidolgozása, bevezetése és rendszerbe foglalása, valamint a kapcsolatépítés és a közösségi élet felélesztése is.

Az alapítvány jelenleg három fő területen – Szociális támogatás, Közösségépítő programok és Általános humanitárius programok – 9 programot működtet: Bálint Ház, Holokauszt Túlélők Programja,Intergenerációs Program, Jaffe Családsegítő Szolgálat , Judafest Utcafesztivál és Zsidó Filmfesztivál , Mozaik Zsidó Közösségi Hub, Narancsliget Adományközpont, Női Egészségmegőrző Program és Szarvasi Tábor.

The JDC ( American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee) starting in 1938 offered substantial financial support to the Hungarian Jewish community. After 38 years of clandestine operation the JDC’s “contemporary” work in Hungary began in 1991 with the establishment of the MAZS Foundation, which continues to operate to this day. The first step was to establish a Holocaust Survivors’ Program to offer help to elderly survivors. Initially, the most important measure was to distribute financial aid but soon afterward it designed, introduced, and successfully maintained an entire package of services for people who needed them. It also became involved in relationship-building and in promoting community life.

The Foundation currently operates in three major fields – Social Supports, Community Building, and General Humanitarian Assistance. Within that it operates 9 projects: the Bálint House, the Holocaust Survivors’ Program, the Intergenerational Program, the Jaffe Family Service, the Judafest Street Festival and Jewish Film Festial, the Mosaic Jewish Community Hub, the Orange Grove Donation Center, the Women’s Health Maintenance Program, and the Youth Camp at Szarvas.
