Generation Unlimited – Youth Challenge

On the trail of deprivation – among the global finalist teams

The team at UNICEF Youth challange can continue to work on their plans and get closer to achieving their goals. As a continuation of the project, the team will help open a new community laundry in Ó-Szajla (Heves county) in 2020, build its own brand, create a website for the initiative, and continue working on the sustainability of the project. Experienced mentors and experts invited by UNICEF continue to assist in this.

“On the trail of deprivation” team members live in a small settlement of 600 people and started their project to help young people who do not have adequate opportunities to bathe, wash their clothes and are therefore often excluded by their environment. Young people and children living in poverty find it difficult to bathe regularly and clean their clothes, which is why they are often excluded from school. These young people are lonely, often drop out of school, and their social connections disappear. They often do not even complete primary school, they only have a low level of education. The solution, according to the team, is a community laundry and bath in the community house of the village.

In addition to laundry, the team also organizes community building and information programs for local youth.

Generation Unlimited – Youth Challenge

The Generation Unlimited Youth Challenge calls on young innovators to design solutions to improve education, employment and civic engagement. It aims to inspire young people with brilliant ideas, but without the resources to bring them to life. This includes 14-24 years old young people, those who face daily discrimination due to their ethnicity, their gender or their disability and those who are disadvantaged by poverty. Launched in September 2018, Youth Challenge 2.0 takes place in 40 countries worldwide in 2019/20.
